Red Shoe Shindig Reimagined

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City alleviates the worry and expense of finding a close, comfortable and affordable place for a family to stay while their child receives the medical care they need.

Each year RMHC-KC hosts the Red Shoe Shindig, a fundraising event that accounts for most of their yearly funding. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was restructured to be virtual. Sponsors opened their homes to host their own mini events, which included food, cocktails, and a virtual program. The theme of the event was “Behind every door is a family like yours” which highlighted multiple families that have been aided by RMHC-KC in the past, but also encapsulated the sponsors hosting the events in their homes. In addition to the event save the dates, invites, and programs, many promotional items were also distributed in “host boxes” delivered by the organization to help make each sponsor’s home more festive. Overall, the event was a huge success, raising over $600,000 and far exceeding their goal.
